Personal Zines

Publications

During this year (2024), I have had enjoyment in creating 1 of 1 and short runs of zines. I have created some of my photography as well as one specifically of things found on Facebook marketplace

Photos Taken On April Twentieth

Twenty Twenty Four

This 1 of 1 zine was made over a two day span, April 20th and 21st. I had decided to take some time to walk around the back alleys of certain areas in Richmond to just the interesting. The zine itself was printed entirely at home off my own printer. It personally is one of my favorite bodies of work I have created because I gave myself only a day to make it. It was a challenge for myself.

I had to leave without saying

goodbye but smile

Carson Lacy was a friend I had met through my other friends Sam and Mike. I had been invited over to Sam’s place after he helped me change the oil in my car. He invited several of his friends to hang out at his place for the evening. We spent the evening having pizza, drinks, walking around the local streets of Richmond, and getting ice cream. Two days later on Monday, Mike broke the news to me that Carson had been killed in an accident at work. I only knew him for two days, but felt the urge to create something that would be permanent, which is where this zine comes to life. The title of this comes from a photograph I took near my house of a banner that read “I had to leave without saying goodbye but smile",” I felt that this message perfectly captured what Carson would have wanted if he knew of his own passing somehow. With a death being so sudden, we should celebrate one’s life and not go on in life feeling sad.

A miniature archive of things I

found on Facebook Marketplace

Possibly one of most popular zines I have made. This zine of things I found on Facebook marketplace was originally something I made as a joke because I wanted a physical copy of the weird and outlandish things I have found on the marketplace. I decided to also make the physical zine itself small to play on the idea of it only being a small portion of the weird things on the website.
